In his big screen debut Sheffield Hallam photography student Edward Birch takes a closer look at the mountain biking community within Sheffield, focusing on local riders including 19 year old GB rider Freddie Oxley who competes for fellow Sheffield legend Steve Pete and 15 year old up and coming rider Hannah Saville as well and a well-known local enduro team.  Ed hopes riders who watch his film at ShAFF will get a kick from seeing the trails they themselves ride.  Listen our for the dulcet tones of Sheffield mountain bike shop owner and film sponsor Martin Rescorle from Over-Ride Bikes doing a cracking job on the narration.

We are delighted to premiere 7 Cogs at ShAFF.  It's always great for us to be able to showcase local creative talent - both filmmakers and athletes and we hope that Ed follows in the footsteps of the likes of fellow Sheffield filmmakers Rich Heap (director of The Dragon's Back and Yorkshire Gold), Nick Brown (director of climbing film Life on Hold and Stone Kingdom) and Ismar Badzic (director of ski films The White Line and Deeper than Snow).

Like this? Please also check our Ed's friend and fellow Sheffield mountain biker Tom Richards.   We're showing his debut film 'North' in individual chapters as well as in its full length.
