In 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009 100% of the audience said they would come back again and recommend it to a friend. 2009 is bigger and it's better than ever before.
Why?
ShAFF is all about FILMS. We sometimes run lectures and panels, there are photo exhibitions, youth development projects, parties, live music and more, but above all, we concentrate on the films.
Without a shadow of doubt ShAFF manages to pull together the best line up of adventure films over a single weekend, anywhere, every year!
What's more, it takes place in the biggest independent cinema outside of London, recently voted best cultural venue in the region.
ShAFF Film Competition: The 50 or so films include award winners from Kendal, Banff, Graz, Trento, Telluride, Edinburgh, Vancouver, Llanberis and some that haven't even been screened yet. If you're short of time you'll be able to watch blocks of films themed to suit your tastes. If you have time on your hands get yourself a day-film pass.
ShAFF On The Edge: Around during the weekend beforehand? Get yourself down to ShAFF On The Edge at Café Euro on John Street (S2 4QU), our fringe event, where you can watch films for free, yes, for free! There will also be free events and surprises happening all weekend check www.cafeeuro.org for more details. There is a £200 prize for best film shown at the cafe as voted by the audience so make sure to vote for your favourite (on the night) Cafe open from 9am, events through out the day, screenings start at 7pm.
ShAFF Youth Adventure Project: Piloted in 2009 when we managed to show ShAFF films to 1,500 kids from Sheffield and The Peak District leading up to the festival, this is an exciting programme of community screenings, visits to the Showroom and Adventure Days. See the Youth Page for more details.
